iOS App Profile: Calculator+

Calculator +On a recent visit to a school, I spoke with a severely dyslexic pupil who mentioned how challenging it was to use a calculator as the numbers were difficult to see.  The pupil may have had some success using a calculator with big keys, but as the school has already provided an iPad for her, it made sense to investigate if there was an app out there that could help.

Calculator + is a free app, that, with a purchase of the £1.49 “themes” pack, allows you to change the colour of the text, the background of the buttons – in fact, you can alter any aspect of the display to the exact shade you desire.  It has very large, easy to see buttons, and has a lot of scientific functionality if required.

It remains to be seen if it will help the pupil I visited, but I’m hopeful it will.
