Senior Management Team (SMT) staff from schools across the city took part in additional support training on the 6th September at Wester Hailes Education Centre. This was organised in relation to the City of Edinburgh Council’s strategic priority to support inclusion, in particular for those children on the autistic spectrum. This training will be repeated 7 March 2017 for all remaining SMT members. An additional training is being organised for SMT in special sector and language classes/ secondary resource provisions and for all partner provider nursery managers.
We would like to thank all attendees for coming and are looking forward to the next session.
Many of you may be aware of Enquire, the Scottish advice service for additional support for learning. They are managed by Children in Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government. On their fantastic website, they have a regular “Day in the Life” feature, where they invite various professionals to share a typical day in their role supporting children and young people with additional support needs and/or educational establishments, parents and carers.
Recently, our very own Sarah Neary shared a day in the life of an EAL teacher.
Please read her story here.
We wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate St. Cuthbert’s RC Language Class on being one of the three winners of the Virgin Money Fireworks poster competition. Look out for their beautiful poster, below, around the city!
